All About Annan Farm Kindergarten and Small School |
| |
|
Our small school opened in 2001 and moved to our present beautiful location at Annan Farm in 2005. Easons Green, near Halland, is half way between Ringmer (near Lewes) and Uckfield, conveniently located on the B2192 and close to the A22.
The school is situated in a lovely wooded setting with lots of outdoor spaces to explore and trees to climb. Our indoor accommodation includes a beautifully converted pole barn used by the kindergarten and early years children, a log cabin classroom for the older infant children,a studio for dance, music and gatherings and a yurt for outdoor learning, storytelling and music making.
The school has an organic vegetable garden, looked after by the children, as well as a fruit orchard. There is a small woodland for Forest School activities and nature study and lots of outdoor areas for play and being together.

We believe in a child-centred approach where children learn through play. Children want to be active and 'doing' and we believe that the learning environment should provide active and practical learning opportunities and rich experiences for every child. Our play and other learning materials are usually made of wood and other natural materials that allow for open ended play and the opportunity for each child's imaginative and creative play to be set free. |
|
| |
| We believe that children should form caring relationships both with other children and with the adults looking after them through positive interaction such as talking, listening and sharing experiences. Treating each child as an individual is central to our philosophy. |

The Ofsted inspector comments "All the children are making extremely good progress in all area of learning as a result of the exceptionally high standard of teaching.
